Physicians, an independent advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) (independent APRN means an APRN who has been in practice for at least 2 years and 2,400 hours under a collaborative agreement with a collaborative provider such as a licensed physician or an APRN who has been in practice for 4 years and therefore does not need to practice in collaboration with a collaborating provider such as a licensed physician or an APRN who has been in practice for at least 4 years and thus does not need to practice in collaboration with. Under the supervision of a licensed physician and as specified in a written delegation agreement, physician assistants (PAs) may provide medical services and thus inject Botox. Botox and absorbable fillers (injection of permanent fillers by a registered nurse or licensed practical nurse is prohibited) are within a registered nurses (RN) and licensed practical nurses (LPN) scope of nursing practice if the following requirements are followed: [1] With a valid written order from a physician (APRN or PA who is approved to practice in Vermont), the RN or LPN may administer the cosmetic injectable medication. [2] An RN or LPN may not choose the medication or dose to be administered during a procedure on their own.In the provider order, the actual drug, dose, and site must be specified; [3] The RN or LPN must convey changes in patient status to the designated provider directing and/or supervising the procedure, as well as all relevant staff, in a timely manner while performing the procedure. If requested, the physician, PA, or APRN must be available by phone at all times and be able to diagnose the client within four hours of the operation.
