North Carolina

Botox is considered the practice of medicine in North Carolina, so someone who conducts it must be a licensed practitioner, PA, or NP, or someone working under the direction of one of those licensees. According to the NCBON, RNs and LPNs can administer Botox or other injections if the procedure has been ordered by a physician, PA, or NP, and the RN or LPN has the necessary expertise, ability, and competency, as well as the necessary supervision. Finally, the Board has stated that it is not common practice to delegate Botox, fillers, or other cosmetic treatments to unlicensed individuals, so attempting such a delegation under North Carolina's general delegation law would be unwise.

Please see the section above titled "Who Can Legally Shoot a Laser Under North Carolina Law?" for more information on physician delegation.
