Minnesota

In Minnesota, Botox injections are considered medical practice and must be performed by physicians; independent practice nurse practitioners if the procedure falls within their scope of practice and they are working within their position and population focus; nurse practitioners (NP) under a collaborative practice agreement with a physician; or physician assistants, under physician supervision and pursuant to the Minnesota Medical Practice Act. Furthermore, if a registered nurse (RN) or a licensed practical nurse (LPN) has the expertise, ability, and training to safely and competently perform Botox injections under physician supervision and guidance, the physician can delegate the procedure to them.

Similarly, an individual practice NP may delegate Botox injections to an RN or LPN if [1] the procedure falls within the NP's scope of practice and population emphasis, [2] it is performed in compliance with nursing delegation laws, and [3] the RN and LPN have the requisite expertise, ability, and training to conduct the procedure safely and competently.
