Injecting Botox for cosmetic reasons is considered medical procedure. As a consequence, doctors may either inject Botox themselves or assign the treatment to a PA or APRN. Physicians may also assign injections to a registered nurse or licensed practical nurse who has learned and maintained injection experience, skills, and abilities and has injections within their scope of practice. Only after a thorough medical examination of the patient and a complete history is taken by the prescribing practitioner may RNs or LPNs inject. Even under the supervision of a physician, unlicensed individuals are not allowed to inject.

This guide is meant as an educational resource laws and scope of practice is changing all the time in each state please seek the advice of a healthcare attorney before practicing.
