Kentucky
Botox injections are considered medical practice in Kentucky, and can be performed by physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants (PA) under the guidance and supervision of a doctor, and registered nurses (RN) and licensed practical nurses (LPN) who have the experience, training, and expertise to safely and competently administer the procedure under physician delegation and supervision. Botox may be injected by licensed estheticians under the supervision of a physician.
Since NPs are self-employed in Kentucky, they can delegate Botox injections to a registered nurse or a licensed practical nurse if
[1] It falls beyond the NP's area of practice;
[2] Is in accordance with the nursing delegation regulations and [3] the RN and LPN have the education, ability, and training to conduct the procedure competently and safely.
