Idaho
In Idaho, Botox injections are considered medical procedure and must be administered by a licensed physician, a physician assistant (PA) under the guidance and supervision of a licensed physician, or a nurse practitioner (NP) if it is within their area of independent practice.
Injection of Botox is considered non-incisive and non-ablative by the Idaho Board of Medicine (Board), and may be performed by a registered nurse, licensed practical nurse, or any other medical personnel (including medical assistants and estheticians) on the clinic staff if they have the training to competently and safely perform the operation, under the delegation and supervision of a registered nurse, licensed practical nurse, or any other medical personnel (including medical assistants and estheticians) on the clinic staff.
Furthermore, an NP may delegate this procedure to an RN or LPN if [1] it falls within the scope of the NP's practice, [2] it is done in compliance with the nursing delegation rules, and [3] the RN and LPN have the requisite education, expertise, and training to conduct the procedure safely and competently.
