In Arkansas, Botox injections are considered a medical procedure and must be administered by a physician. The physician can, however, assign this procedure to a physician assistant working under physician supervision and following the written protocol; a nurse practitioner working under a written joint practice agreement; a registered nurse, a licensed practical nurse, or unlicensed staff if: [i] the physician evaluates the acuity of the patient, determines the competency of the delegatee, and ensures that the delegatee is skilled and adequately trained to competently and safely perform the procedure; [ii] the physician evaluates the acuity of the patient, determines the competency of the delegatee, and ensures that the delegatee is qualified and appropriately trained to competently and safely perform the procedure; [iii] when the Botox injection is being administered, the physician offers the required degree of supervision; and [iv] the Botox injection is being performed within the physical limits of the delegating physician's office.
