Injecting Botox for cosmetic reasons is considered medical practice. As a result, physicians may inject Botox themselves or assign the procedure to a properly supervised RN, APRN, or PA.

Nurse Practitioners are independent practitioners who can inject Botox and fillers into patients based on their population emphasis and expertise and experience. Furthermore, NPs can guide and supervise the injection of Botox by other qualified and skilled APRNs and RNs.

Botox and other injectables are only available with a prescription, and the prescriber must be reachable by phone for an immediate consultation or to review a client within four hours of the procedure, if necessary. Botox cannot be injected by someone who isn't approved.
